Superintendent's Message

     I am excited to be your child’s Superintendent of Schools again this coming school year.  Edinburgh Community School Corporation is where “students are learning and growing daily with the care of a small community to maximize their potential.”

     We have an incredible year planned, full of changes, discovery, growth, and plenty of fun along the way.  It is important to remind you that in our schools every child is known by their first name!  Our schools are a place where your child is seen, supported, and encouraged to take risks, ask big questions, and learn from every experience.  Unlike many other schools, our class sizes at East Side Elementary School in grades K-5 are 18-23 students.

     The first day of school is Wednesday, August 5, 2026.  I want to remind you that we will release school one (1) hour early every Wednesday for teachers to collaborate on behalf of your child(ren). 

     There will be “no eLearning days” this school year unless necessary due to circumstances beyond our control.  It is important that our students receive a quality education and be provided with a free breakfast and lunch for 180 days of school.  If school is cancelled for any reason, we will make-up those days as reflected on our school calendar.  This year we plan to work with our teachers to reduce screen time on digital devices.  Our goal is to be reasonable and responsible in our use of technology in all grades.     

     Another significant change this year is the new “Indiana Bell to Bell Law” regarding cellular telephones, smart watches, and personal communication devices.  Students will be asked to keep all personal devices stored during the entire school day.  We are asking for your help to ensure your child knows to store their device to avoid any consequences for violating this new law.
