Bella Turner and Kenna Streeval were recently named to the Girls Basketball All Conference Team and Junior Kinzie Purvis earned Girls Basketball Honorable Mention. All three students have demonstrated exceptional dedication, leadership, and achievement both academically and athletically.
Senior Bella Turner
Bella, daughter of Nikki and Josh Turner, is the Salutatorian of the Class of 2026 and plans to attend Indiana University Columbus (IUC) to study Business. Last year she received Girls Basketball Honorable Mention.
Her favorite school memories include playing sports alongside her friends and the team’s exciting Sectional run this year. One of her favorite teachers is Mr. Shupperd who teaches Spanish and upper-level math classes. Bella shared, “At Edinburgh I was able to play sports with my friends and being in a small school the teachers were always there for all of my needs in class.”
Her advice to younger students:
“Enjoy your time here; it goes by faster than you think.”
Senior Kenna Streeval
Kenna, the daughter of Chris and Alicia Streeval, is the Valedictorian of the Class of 2026. She will attend Eastern Kentucky University, where she plans to pursue a degree in Business Finance and has been recruited to play softball by EKU. Kenna has earned multiple MHC titles for multiple sports.
Kenna reflected on her time at Edinburgh, saying:
“My experience at Edinburgh schools has definitely shaped me into who I am. The small school and community has always given me a support system in anything that I do, so I've never been afraid to try new things.” Kenna also mentioned Mr. Shupperd and Mrs. Pace as two of her favorite teachers.
Her message to underclassmen:
“My advice would be to get involved and have fun. You are only in high school once in your life, so make the best of it!”
Junior Kinzie Purvis, the daughter of Jeanne and Paul Wiseman and granddaughter of Tammy and Gene Hancock, is active in athletics and also excels academically. Kinzie is active in 4-H, tennis, and volleyball along with playing AAU basketball since 6th grade. Though she will graduate in 2027, she already plans to attend college to study nursing. Girls Basketball Coach Dennis Smith is fortunate to have Kinzie returning for another year to lead the team. As he shared,
“Losing Kenna and Bella from our basketball program leaves a hole that’s bigger than points and rebounds — it’s leadership, experience, and heart that walk out of the gym with them. Next season will look different, but the foundation they built will still be there, and now it’s time for Kinzie to carry that standard forward.”
Both seniors, Kenna and Bella, have been playing basketball together since they were five years old. Being a Lancer athlete was an important part of their elementary, middle school, and high school careers. In addition to basketball, they are both members of the National Honor Society. Kenna also participates in softball, track and volleyball while Bella also plays golf and tennis.
All three young women represent the very best of Edinburgh — balancing excellence in academics with dedication in athletics. Both seniors also shared that they plan to remain close to family and friends after graduation, carrying their Lancer pride with them into the next chapter of their lives.
