Edinburgh Community – COVID-19 Re-entry Plan – 2020-21

Governor Holcomb announced yesterday that masks will be mandated starting on Monday, July 27, 2020. The mandate applies to anyone eight years of age or older in indoor spaces or on public transportation (school buses), as well as outdoors without the ability to socially distance by six feet or more from others.

So, how does that affect the children and staff members of the Edinburgh Community Schools?  This means that all students, grades three through twelve, and all staff members will be required to wear face masks while on a school bus and in any other environment in which social distancing isn’t possible. Edinburgh Community Schools’ teachers have their classrooms arranged so that social distancing will allow all students to not be required to wear a mask at their desk. Students will not be wearing masks for the entire school day.

What options do you have as students of the Edinburgh Community Schools? You have two options:

1. In-person or traditional instruction with COVID-19 precautions in place; or

2. Virtual Instruction (Edgenuity for grades 6-12 and Google Classroom for grade K-5).

If you choose Virtual Instruction, you will need to contact your respective building principal by Tuesday, July 28, 2020. If your child is in grades K-5 please contact the Principal, Mr. Jason Schoettmer, East Side Elementary School, at jschoettmer@ecsc.k12.in.us. If you are in middle school (grades 6-8) or high school (grades 9-12), Edinburgh Middle/High School, contact the Principal, Mr. Kevin Rockey at krockey@ecsc.k12.in.us.

We are looking forward to returning to school for the 2020-21 school year.
